Discussion Leadership Forum
The focus of the Discussion Leadership Forum is
Case-Method teaching and Participant-Centered learning. The
philosophy behind participant-centered learning as it relates to
adult and professional education will be presented and
discussed. Participants will not only gain practical tools and
techniques to improve discussion leadership skills, but become
part of a network of like-minded colleagues for future
collaboration.

Forum Leader
David A. Garvin is the C. Roland Christensen Professor of
Business Administration at the Harvard Business School. He
joined the Business School faculty in 1979 and has since then
taught courses in leadership, general management, and operations
in the MBA and Advanced Management programs, as well as serving
as Faculty Chair of the School’s Teaching and Learning
Center. A long-time colleague of Roland Christensen – pioneer of
the case method at Harvard Business School and across Harvard
University – David has been thinking about, publishing on, and
teaching teachers and students about discussion leadership, the
case method, and participant-centered learning for several
decades. More recently, Mr. Garvin has undertaken research
with Professor Srikant Datar on the future of management
education, including a series of case studies on the practices
of leading institutions.
